LA CAMPANA
TWENTYNINE YEARS AGO
This
page is born from the meeting with
a
group of friends of Bologna.
It's
dedicated to them.
La
Campana today is the result of a long - and often an arduous - work of
transformation, started more than twentyfive years ago and still in course,
that has deeply changed the original aspect. Nevertheless there is a thin wire that
alloy the present and the past, a kind of fidelity in the disobedience, in
which, perhaps, there is the true sense of every restoration. The following
images aren't only a testimony of this love for the origin that has accompanied
all the history of the Bell. They are the test that the poor things, at the appearance more vile, hide great treasures. They are the test of the way
that every life must complete through the powder of the time to reach a new
shining.
The
images on left side show the country houses in 1980, these saw the first founders of the
Bell,
arriving here from Milan, where they have left house, job and economic welfare, in order to
realize a life dream together. The greater part of the
buildings, whose more ancient nucleus goes back to the ' 700, was found falled
into decay and needed of a urgent restructure. In some
points the roofs, the floors and the stairs were collapsed. Here began the Bell's
adventure, renouncing the individual
possession and the choosing to share all.
Without
any experience of the agricultural world, the founders had
to
play agriculturists and breeders, but also masons and
carpenters.
Now the garden has replaced the sheet barns and the restored
houses become rich of chimney-pot.
In
the old house lived only two families of farmers next to move elsewhere. The image seems
coming from an indefinite time, when
all was still to make and the enterprise seemed bigger than the human resources.
The
restoration has changed every corner of the village keeping the original style. The
original structure is visible in its main lines. Here
the dream has become true: in renewed rooms live the group of
the Bell, growing in the years and arriving now at about twentyfive persons.
A
bell has been placed on the top of an old warehouse
of
corn and a
shelter for the animals,
restored in the years. " The Bell " is the name that the community chose as
a guide for a big and hard work
and as a symbol of a harmony conquered and defended with tenacity, finally
become gift to receive guests.
An
old stable for cows and rabbits, covered with cobwebs, plaster and crustings,
ruined
by time and neglect, has become "Arca", shelter of
beauty and precious nucleus of the house.
Arca receives the sublime
moments of the man: art, music, poetry, reflection, hush. In Arca is visible all that
at the Bell has been created through the education, the
improvement and the self-knowledge. Like the mosaic on the floor, done with the
old manger's bricks, that the years and the animal
dung have colored and smooth: the nature's work togerther with the man's work.
